Samantha Kappagoda was a Speaker on Hot Topics in AI Governance for the American Bar Association
Samantha Kappagoda, Chief Data Scientist of Numerati® Partners and Independent Director of the Credit Suisse Funds, was invited to speak at the American Bar Association SciTech Risk & Trust Management Committee webinar on May 19, 2025.
She participated on the inaugural panel titled Hot Topics in AI Governance: Legal Perspectives on Risk, Trust, and Responsibility for the Risk & Trust Management Committee, moderated by Tim Reiniger, Director of Reiniger LLC, and panelists Taa Grays, President-Elect Designee of the New York State Bar Association and Ellie Jurado-Nieves, Head of Strategic Public Policy & Assistant General Counsel, Government Affairs, Guardian Life Inc. The panel sought to discuss risk, trust, and responsibility in AI, and relevance for legal practitioners.
Samantha is an active member of the American Bar Association, serving as Vice-Chair of the Big Data Committee, the Internet-of-Things Committee, and the Risk and Trust Management Committee. She previously also served from 2019 to 2023 as Vice-Chair of the Insurance Technology and Risk Committee.

Samantha Kappagoda currently serves as an Independent Director / Trustee, Nominating Committee Chair and Audit Committee Member of Credit Suisse Funds, which are comprised of closed-end funds (NYSE: DHY and CIK) and open-end funds investing in commodity, high yield and credit strategies. She is also Chief Data Scientist and Co-Managing Member of Numerati Partners LLC, Visiting Scholar at Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences NYU, advising research activities at RiskEcon® Lab for Decision Metrics @ Courant Institute, and a Member of the Business Board of the Governing Council at the University of Toronto.
