Samantha Kappagoda was a Speaker on Artificial Intelligence at the NYU Law 2024 Directors’ Academy
Samantha Kappagoda, Chief Data Scientist of Numerati® Partners and Independent Director / Trustee of Credit Suisse Funds, was invited back for the second time to speak at the NYU School of Law Program on Corporate Compliance and Enforcement (PCCE) 2024 Directors’ Academy that took place on October 31 – November 1, 2024, at New York University.
Samantha participated in a plenary panel entitled AI: Opportunities and Risks, moderated by Avi Gesser, Partner at Debevoise & Plimpton. Her fellow panelists were:
- Cheemin Bo-Linn, Director at Blackline Safety, Data I/O, Flux Power and KORE Wireless
- Christina Montgomery, Chief Privacy and Trust Officer of IBM
- Sabastian Niles, President and Chief Legal Officer of Salesforce
The PCCE 2024 Directors’ Academy provides an opportunity for directors and C-suite executives of public and private companies to engage with CEOs, government officials, scholars and other directors for off-the-record conversations about new issues and evolving views relating to: legal and business risks, AI, cybersecurity, DEI, climate change, new directions in government enforcement and governance issues, including CEO succession planning, effective board meetings, and shareholder activism.
Samantha Kappagoda currently serves as an Independent Director / Trustee, Nominating Committee Chair and Audit Committee Member of Credit Suisse Funds, which are comprised of two closed-end funds (NYSE: DHY and CIK) and six open-end funds investing in commodity, quantitative and high yield and credit strategies, and a Member of the Business Board of the Governing Council at the University of Toronto. She is also Chief Data Scientist and Co-Managing Member of Numerati® Partners LLC, and Visiting Scholar at Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences NYU, advising research activities at RiskEcon® Lab for Decision Metrics @ Courant Institute.
